Obituary for Robert H. Clayton

Robert H. Clayton, 81, of Wall, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
Bob was born in Neptune to the late George and Edith (Bennett) Clayton. He was a lifelong resident of Wall. He served in the Army Reserve. He had a distinguished career of 40 years with Jersey Central Power & Light, as a Chief responsible for building and maintaining substations, before retiring. He was an avid golfer.
Mr. Clayton is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Audrey (Kedersha), and by his children, Charles and his wife Ellen Clayton, of Manville, Kevin and his wife Marilyn Clayton, of Wall, Scott and his wife Colleen Clayton, of Brick, and Tammie Nicholas, of Lakewood. Also surviving are Bob’s grandchildren, Kristen, Caitlin, and Kevin Daniel Clayton, and his niece, Karan Clawson. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Clayton (Killed in Action, Vietnam), and his sister, Marilyn Clawson, and very recently, by his son-in-law, Jim Nicholas.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, from 4-8 PM. A service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, at 10 AM, followed by burial with military honors, at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
