Obituary for Richard Craw

Richard Craw, 99, of Manasquan Park passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at his home. He enjoyed a highly successful business career, was a devoted husband and beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Craw retired in 1980 as SVP and Director of Sales for Grace Line in New York City, NY. The shipping company boasted state of the art ships such as the Santa Paula and the Santa Rosa that were built in Newport News, VA in 1956. The ships were utilized to carry both cargo and passengers to many ports of call in the Caribbean, Central and South America. He also worked for MORAM (Morflot America Inc.) during his career in the shipping industry. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII from 1942 – 1946. He was a 1938 graduate of Newark Academy and a 1942 graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH earning a bachelor’s degree in History. Mr. Craw was an active member of the Manasquan River Country Club in Brielle for many years.
Born and raised in East Orange, he lived in Upper Montclair for 30 years. He then moved to Ocean Beach, Curtis Point in Mantoloking and Brielle, respectively before moving to Manasquan Park 20 years ago.
Mr. Craw was predeceased by his loving wife, Nancy Craw in 2013; son, Garvie Craw in 2007; parents, Stanley, Sr. and Mildred Craw; and by his brothers, Stanley R. Craw, Jr. in 2013 and Freeman Craw in 2016.
Surviving are his son, Richard Craw of North Caldwell; a daughter-in-law, Susan Craw of Little Silver; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
