Obituary for Joan Johnston Origlia (Cummings)

Joan Johnston Origlia, 83, formerly of Lakewood passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Trenton. Joan worked as an executive assistant to the Chairman of the Board of White, Weld & Co, and execute assistant to the President & CEO of European American Bank both in Manhattan before retiring. She was a member of the Rosary Club and participated in many activities while a resident at the Cranbury Center in Monroe.
Born, raised and longtime resident of Staten Island, she moved to Lakewood in 2005.
She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Origlia in 2013; and by her parents, John and Mabel Cummings. Surviving are her son, James J. Johnston and his wife, Melissa and grand daughter Katelyn Johnston of Lovettsville, VA; daughter, Jacqueline Johnston Scampato and her husband, Fred of Trenton; and 2 grandchildren, Theresa Scampato and Michael Scampato.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday 9am at St. Dominic’s RC Church, Brick. Final interment will be held privately. Donations may be made in her name to Compassus Hospice, 1955 Rte. 34 south, Wall, NJ, 07719.
